I’d choose practical work in the lab anytime over analysing genes and visualising proteins in front of a pc screen. That’s partly because I am too energetic to spend most day sitting on a chair! I’m sure my colleagues would agree ha
If I had to choose for the best method in the lab, that would be the growth assays of bacteria on a plate reader! Bacteria grow during a certain amount of time in a specific broth nutrient found in a well of a plate. An eye detector (spectrophotometer) checks how well they grow (the more they are in the well the higher the absorbance ie. the more cloudy the medium). Then you get to decide yourself what they might didn’t like in the medium and were like: ‘nah, lets just not grow!’
