Did you know that without fungi that lives in the roots of plants underground there would be hardly any plants?! Plants rely on fungi to get their nutrients from the soil. No plants = no animals =no humans…..scary!
There are nine to eleven pounds of bacteria in a single human. Imagine how many trillions of bacteria there have to be to weigh that much! However some are friendly to us and together we are healthier. Not all are such though thats why our immune system is amazing and takes care of the bad guys.
A seed frozen for 31,800 years was brought back to life and the fruits used to make new plants. The plant, Silene stenophylla, was found in a squirrel burrow in the Siberian permafrost and dates back within the last Ice Age (Late Pleistocene).
