No, this would be impossible! All scientists try to be the best expert who knows more about their topic than anyone else in the World. So we each have to study a slightly different topic than all other scientists, otherwise we can’t all be the best in the World. Of course we are then all similar to each other in this respect…

As Kirsten says, we all try to be the best at what we do, to be the specialist in our field. It is all about moving forwards, keeping ideas going and developing.

Sometimes what we do is similar to someone else, and that means we can talk about it as part of a team or to compare results, and that is one way that science moves forwards, but we are never identical in what we do to someone else.

One thing that is important to do though is test each others results, to replicate experiments to check that they work, and in that respect you could say we are similar, but again, we are testing and checking not just repeating, and again we are moving the world of science forwards by making sure it does actually work properly.
